Attendance
Counting a major number of make-ups, our empty four tables (in back) were hidden in the smoke of a 70% attendance announcement. President-elect Trip presided again, and announced that with no piano player and no song leader we would forego singing. It was noticeable there were more dampened spirits than exuberance. Gertrude apologized for a long prayer but I hadn’t even shifted to the other foot when it ended. It was after all a special day to tack on all kinds of “thanks” to the good Lord. Sgt@Arms Tony Q gathered a respectable pile of happy dollars, but none came in from those four tables.
Shelter Box Barometer: With today’s happy dollars dedicated to our 4th Shelter Box we have $639 of that next thousand, getting real close to two-thirds,
Visitors
Today again there were no visiting Rotarians. Shannon Price was guest of her mom, Sandy, Mike Mickler was was guest of David Page, Wayne DuBois guest of his special other, Janice O’Connell, Harrison and Adam Garnett family guests of Jen Towles and Bradley Bean guest of his dad, Aaron.
Business/Announcements
(1) Aaron Bean shared a lot of details about the Christmas Tree Lighting at The Ritz that evening, AND nearly sold out on the raffle ticket he brought with him.
(2) I’m sure we will still get a more official report on the tennis tournament, but those who worked it testified to the good time they had and even though we didn’t make bundles of dough, Katie shared that we did get $752. Since tickets were $10, I’m not sure if the $2 came from interest or depreciation. It’s hard to tell these days.
(3) Mike Clemens filled us in on more details with the Water Project special trip to Nicaragua. Let him know if you want more info or you’d like to go. He said so far the Sunrise Club is sort of driving this; they have 7 going so far. Our club currently has 2. The trip will be Feb 10-15 and will cost somewhere around $1,500-2,000. More information will be coming.
(4) It wasn’t brought up at the meeting, but we hope you saw our TWO picture day in the News Leader last Wed.
